A place filled with history
Where Nantes’ heritage meets modern hospitality
The history of the Hôtel de la Cité is closely linked to that of the neighbourhood. In 1938, the Nantes wholesale market, nicknamed ‘the Belly of Nantes’, moved to the Palais du Champ de Mars, opposite the Lefèvre-Utile factory where LU biscuits are made.
On the site of a former tannery, the Bouyer and Guindon families are developing a fruit and vegetable warehouse and a banana ripening facility. Building on this commercial and industrial heritage, the Hôtel de la Cité is set to open its doors in 2023 and breathe new life into this iconic site from Nantes’s past.

A place filled with history
In 1938, the wholesale market, nicknamed «Nantes Belly» moved to the Palais du Champ de Mars in front of the Lefèvre-Utile factory where the LU biscuits were made. In order to develop their business, wholesalers set up warehouses in the neighbourhood. The Bouyer-Guindon families built, on the site of an old tannery, a storage warehouse for fruits and vegetables, as well as banana ripening plant. The Hôtel de la Cité was constructed here in 2023.

Our 97 rooms, designed by BGC, a Nantes-based architecture and design firm, invite relaxation in an elegant and contemporary atmosphere. To ensure the well-being of our guests, each room is equipped with an air purifier manufactured just 3 kilometers away by the Nantes-based company JVD.
The gardens, located on the former site of the banana ripening facility at the Nantes MIN, form a unique haven of light and greenery in the heart of the city. Enjoying a drink there at the end of a workday or a day exploring the city is an experience cherished by both locals and visitors alike.
The hotel's elegance and modernity creates a tranquil atmosphere that is ideal for ensuring an authentic experience in the center of Nantes.

Nous disposons d’un parking souterrain privé et sécurisé, équipé de bornes de recharge pour autos et vélos. N’hésitez pas à nous solliciter, notre parking est à un tarif de 16€ par nuit et par véhicule.
Pour les véhicules de plus d’1.80m de haut, nous disposons de places dans un parking situé à 220 mètres de l’Hôtel à 12€ par nuit et par véhicule.

We offer an exquisite selection of pastries to savor at your leisure, paired with expertly prepared Nespresso coffees such as cappuccinos or latte macchiatos. Our buffet also features a variety of cold cuts and cheeses, scrambled eggs, sausages, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Price: 18 € per person.

- By bike : Free indoor parking. Charging plug and bicycle inflating station.
- By bus : Line 4 at 150 meters away.
- By train : Train station 10 minutes walk.
- By plane : From 15 to 45 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. From the airport, a bus called « Navette» takes you directly to the train station (near the hotel) for 10€.
